The mission of The Washington Hospital Foundation is to foster philanthropic relationships to support Washington Health System’s commitment to healthier communities.

Vision: To be the preeminent local Foundation that empowers donors to achieve healthier communities.

Established in 1992, Washington Health System Foundation helps financially support Washington Health System, a non-profit integrated healthcare system that depends on the community’s charitable giving to fulfill its mission to provide great patient care.

The Foundation raises funds through:

• Donations, grants, and sponsorships by individuals, organizations, and corporations
• Yearly giving campaigns that ask families, friends, and community members to support the health system
• Special capital campaigns that raise money for construction projects to better meet our community’s health needs

As an independent community health system, we take pride in the great patient care we provide every day. However, to continue providing exceptional care, we must offer our clinical staff and nursing students educational opportunities to prepare them for today’s complex healthcare environment.

Our education department includes the Rice Energy Family Simulation Center, which provides advanced education, hands-on training, and risk-free scenarios that allow users to achieve a broader skill set and directly apply those skills to patient care. At a time when there is a critical shortage of nurses, the availability of simulation education in Washington County helps attract nursing students to the School of Nursing, preparing them to fill vacant frontline provider roles. Additionally, it provides training to other services within the County, such as law enforcement, schools, and first responders.
