Current Needs
FREE IT TRAINING AND EMPLOYMENT:
There is a need to offer free digital skills training to marginalized individuals so they can obtain employment in the information technology sector, which is a high-growth area that offers sustainable wages.
Goodwill’s Tech Academy prepares people for jobs in IT. We offer free scholarships and provide wraparound with Career Services to assist with resumes, interview skills, and job searching.
Many tech training opportunities have high barriers to entry, including financial costs, time commitment, and foundational skills acquisition. This excludes many individuals who do not have the financial means to pay upfront costs, cut their work schedules, or find alternative care arrangements for their families. Our most vulnerable populations do not have the skills necessary to participate in a virtual world, much less pursue the full-time training opportunities outlined above.
Our Digital Skills programming provides eight weeks of free training.
