Burgettstown Area Community Development Corp
Nonprofit Overview
The Burgettstown Area Community Development Corporation's mission is to improve the quality of life by preserving, planning and promoting community and economic development within the greater Burgettstown area. Our first project of acquiring and duplicating the original Train Station located along the Panhandle Trail in the Burgettstown business district was completed in 2016. At the end of that year we purchased a vacant building at 1706 Main Street for the future home of the Burgettstown Trail Inn and Welcome Center. Our goal is to renovate it into a Welcome Center for the trail with a snack bar and sleeping quarters for overnight stays for bikers and for out-of-town visitors to the Pavillion at Star Lake during concert season. Recently we also erected a building on 1712 Main Street for the future home of the Burgettstown Bike Storage Facility which will make riding more convenient for trail users.
Current Needs
The Burgettstown Trail Inn project is well on its way for completion. In 2020, the BACDC raised the funds to have architectural drawings developed that included floor plans for the Welcome center with public rest rooms for the trail users, the snack bar and a Hostel on the second floor for overnight stays. A cost analysis was included in that plan as well. With the help of the Local Share Account Program we were able to make the interior of the building construction ready by adding support for the exterior walls, ceiling and floors. At this time the BACDC needs the funding for the installation of Electrical Service, Plumbing and HVAC along with interior wall, restrooms and equipment for the snack bar. The Burgettstown Trail Inn will not only benefit the trail users but also the residents in the greater Burgettstown area.
